Hot coconut rum

An unusual recipe for MASALE in the middle of the week. But Wednesday is a little Friday. We just support our friends with goodies at territorial defense exercises, and yesterday the guys at the end of the day asked for some kind of “adult” drink that would be both hot and healthy. So, together with a bucket of cocoa and non-alcoholic mulled wine, they also brewed HOT COCONUT RUM

Cocktail ingredients

60 ml of golden rum
1 tbsp. “leaven” from coconut oil (add to taste)
120 ml of hot water
cinnamon stick for beauty (optional)

Spicy coconut sourdough

½ cup coconut oil
1 cupcoconut or other brown sugar (it’s brown, it’s important for the taste)
½ tsp. ¼ tsp. ground allspice
¼ tsp. ground nutmeg
¼ tsp. ground cloves
pinch of salt

Step 1

Add the unmelted coconut oil, brown sugar and spices to a bowl and mix until smooth
Cover (or immediately place in a container) and store at room temperature.

Step 2

Add coconut oil “leaven” to the bottom of a heatproof glass.
Pour rum and boiling water over the top.
Stir until the sugar dissolves and the butter melts.
Garnish with a cinnamon stick and serve immediately.

It is preferable to drink it hot, because coconut oil hardens quickly, and the drink will not be so pretty. Let’s be healthy!
