The benefits of ginger in research by world scientists

At the beginning of this year, a large group of scientists from South Korea published the results of a study of about 400 studies and scientific works from around the world, regarding the use of ginger as a natural therapeutic and preventive agent. More than 300 papers failed the validity test because they did not meet the study selection criteria, but 109 papers were eligible in terms of study design, characteristics, evaluation systems, implications and main results.

Many medicinal properties of ginger have been investigated in scientific works, including which its antioxidant, antimicrobial and anti-neuroinflammatory action. Currently, the area of use of ginger is expanding thanks to it ability to positively affect tumor diseases, nausea and vomiting during pregnancy or caused by chemotherapy, to treat chronic fatigue, and in general to contribute to the improvement of a person’s health and quality of life.

Ginger is a well-known plant that has been widely used as a flavoring and herbal medicine for centuries

Scientists have isolated over 100 compounds from ginger. In particular, the major classes of compounds in ginger are gingerol, shogaols, zingiberene, and zingerone, as well as other less common compounds including terpenes, vitamins, and minerals. Among them, gingerols are considered as the main components because these compounds have scientifically proven antitumor, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antifungal, gastroprotective and neuroprotective properties. In addition, almost the only proven side effects of using ginger for medicinal purposes are individual sensitivity to this root and heartburn (in very rare cases – in approximately 1 patient out of 50), which mostly occurred due to a large amount of ginger used (somewhere 1-2 liters of concentrated solution per day).

For the sake of saving our time with you, we will turn it over million pages of scientific papers to the “Conclusions” point and simply summarize that according to the latest confirmed data, ginger has proven its effectiveness in most therapeutics protocols Therefore, introducing it into our daily diet is a priori a good idea and prevention from many diseases.

And finally, what is even more interesting, according to data from Korean scientists against the use of ginger was lawsuits have been filed in Iran and the US, most of which have been related to ethnicity. To be honest, we haven’t figured out how to tie ginger to the color of the skin, the area where people live, their language or religion.
