This morning we were enchanted by beetroots, which reminded us of the importance of detoxifying the body, especially at a time when rockets are flying at you and me, something is constantly burning and breaking, and the stress level has reached supernatural levels.
First of all, it is necessary to increase the consumption of water, compotes, juices from fresh fruits and vegetables, green tea and fermented milk products.
The second helping is any dark leafy greens (beetroot leaves, arugula, green salads, spinach) and spicy herbs: cilantro, celery, garlic, green onions, basil, parsley, dill, etc.
Fortunately, now is the season, so each serving of food should contain at least a handful of healthy greens, and preferably with cold-pressed olive or sunflower oil. If all this is also sprinkled with sesame or sunflower seeds, then you will be cool in general!
Let’s not forget about the hit of the season – lightly salted cucumbers. Sauerkraut or any fermented vegetables are also suitable. These products start metabolic processes, contribute to the improvement of intestinal microflora, and are also common food for our region.
Among the less familiar but no less useful products aimed at detoxifying the body and reducing inflammatory processes, we can list:
- turmeric – as a seasoning for other dishes, in a drink or in pills as a dietary supplement
- spirulina – a couple of grams per day to a salad or in a smoothie
- lemons – add to water, pour over salads or eat just like that with honey or salt
- cocoa – recently we use it not in the form of chocolate, but as a healthy drink: we mix a teaspoon of real bitter cocoa powder in water and drink it in the first half of the day. It improves oxygen saturation of blood cells, protects the skin from the harmful effects of UV rays, and also invigorates.
And of course, our best saviors now (after the Armed Forces and heavy weapons from Western partners) are berries and fruits!
It is the best source of vitamins and minerals that improve the condition of the gastrointestinal tract due to the presence of fiber and antioxidants. In the process of digesting food, pectin turns into polygalacturonic acid, which combines with radionuclides and toxic heavy metals within a few hours, and safely removes most of them from the body. This is especially important for those of us who are close to the front line, the Chernobyl nuclear power plant and other hellish locations.
