Spirulina (Arthrospira platensis) is an algae, a useful food additive.

It is ecologically clean, has not undergone chemical and heat treatment, is saturated with nutrients and rich in phytonutrients.

What is spirulina and what do you eat it with?

Spirulina is the oldest algae that appeared on Earth 3.5 billion years ago. This plant is so unique that it is rightfully considered a fantastic work of nature. The ideal spiral shape of blue-green color contains about 2,000 minerals, vitamins, enzymes, including 18 amino acids, including 8 essential, unsaturated fatty acids, a number of vitamins (A, C, E, group B), many micro- and macroelements (Fe, Ca, Cu, Mg, Zn, P, Se) and nucleic acids (DNA, RNA), which perform the most important function of preserving and transmitting genetic information.

Features of spirulina:

– consists of 70% vegetable protein (protein), which does not contain fats and cholesterol
– contains a record amount of beta-carotene, which the body converts into vitamin A when needed (at the same time, without accumulating it, as happens when using synthetic vitamin A, the excess of which is toxic for the body)
– so rich in vitamin B12 and other B vitamins that a tablespoon of powder contains 300% of the daily dose of vitamins for a person
– contains arginine, which cleanses the blood of toxins
– quickly raises the level of hemoglobin, is considered the best natural source of iron
– contains phycocyanin – a substance capable of stopping the growth of cancer cells, no other product on the planet contains this complex
– spirulina contains gamma-linoleic acid, which contributes to the development of a healthy child.

According to research, long-term use of 2-5 g of spirulina per day significantly improves health.

It is not advisable to use spirulina in case of: individual intolerance, hyperfunction of the thyroid gland, acne, myocardial infarction, stroke, vascular thrombosis, heart failure, peptic ulcer disease, bleeding of the gastrointestinal tract, nervous disorders.

How to use ground Spirulina powder?

The best option is to consume spirulina separately from food (with water) or with the same easily digestible products – fruits, vegetables, greens.

Ideal: mix a teaspoon of powder in a glass of water – take in the morning on an empty stomach (the stomach will be empty after 15 minutes, and satiety will remain for a long time). If spirulina is eaten with heavier foods (nuts, meat), the effect decreases.

Heat treatment of spirulina is extremely undesirable – in this case, the benefits of algae will be significantly reduced.
