Ground dried sweet red pepper. Bright red saturated color and light sweet taste with bitterness.

The bright red color of ground dried paprika makes an impression on everyone who has had the opportunity to visit markets from Morocco to Turkey or in northern India. In these regions, the spice is valued equally for its taste and color. The subtle taste that sweet ground paprika gives to hot spicy dishes and stews, the bright color and specific spicy aroma of sweet paprika is familiar to probably every housewife.

Since pepper tolerates almost any climate well, it is planted all over the world, and therefore paprika is known to everyone. However, for a strong aroma, a rather harsh climate is needed, so in Europe Hungarian paprika has a better reputation, and the best of the best paprika is considered to come from the Kaloča region.

  1. Paprika can be added to almost all vegetable dishes. It goes especially well with tomatoes, cabbage, potatoes
  2. Add to dishes with cheese, cottage cheese, eggs, fish and seafood; also in pasta and rice.
  3. Goes well with meat, especially minced meat.
  4. Paprika is added to sauces, soups and marinades to add a light peppery bitterness and red color to dishes.
  5. Paprika can also be added when baking bread – this will make it more aromatic, and the bright color of the bread will become even richer with each passing hour.

Since dried ground paprika contains a significant amount of sugar (up to 6% in fresh pepper), it cannot be overheated, as the sugar burns quickly and, together with other protein compounds contained in paprika, will add unwanted bitterness to your dish. Therefore, frying paprika powder in hot oil is an important procedure that should not last more than a few seconds.

Caution: use with caution in case of cardiac dysfunction, hypertension, gastric and duodenal ulcers, increased acidity, exacerbation of chronic liver and kidney diseases, chronic hemorrhoids, epilepsy, insomnia.

It is recommended to store paprika in a dry, dark place – sunlight and humidity kill the taste and aroma of the spice.
